Buying used textbooks couldn't be easier.  We've provided three ways to search through our book listings, they are as follows: Search by Keyword, Search by Course, and Search by ISBN.

If you do not have the book's ISBN, you can always search by "Keywords" such as Book Title or Author Name. You can use any or all of these for your search.

We've included a sample book, to help explain the process. It is called "Creating a Book Exchange in just 215 days!"

Obviously, "Creating a Book Exchange in just 215 days!" would be the "Book Title", but the rest may not be as obvious.

This book has two authors, Lawrence Love and April Tellez. To make things easier, we broke down the "Author Name" into two separate lines, "Author's Last Name" and "Author's First Name." Now the question is, what should you do if there are multiple authors?

In order to have some structure in the search process, we've created some guidelines for everyone to follow. One such condition is that we ask that you use ONLY the first author listed, regardless if there are two authors or twenty. We only need the FIRST author that is listed!

In this case, the author you would enter is "Lawrence Love". "Love" would be entered as the "Author's Last Name" and "Lawrence" would be entered as the "Author's First Name."

As for the "Edition Number," this information is found within the first few pages of the book, as you can see in the example below:

This book happens to be a new book, so it is a "First Edition," and nothing is listed. If, for instance, this book had received recent additions, it may have been a Second Edition, and that would be printed here on this page, and can usually be found on other parts of the book, such as the cover or the spine.

In our example, you would enter "First" as the "Edition Number." You could also enter "1999" which is the year the book was published.

Notice that the "ISBN" is also listed here, within the first few pages.

As stated earlier, once you have the necessary information, you can use any or all of them. You can use just the "Author Name", or you can use the "Author Name" in conjunction with the "Book Title."

You can also search through our listings based on the "Department Name" and "Course Number." If you're looking for a book for your "CIS 461" class, just select "CIS" from the "Department Name" drop-down list, and enter "461" as the "Course Number." The search engine will bring up every ad that is listed under "CIS 461."

If you do not know the "Course Number," then just leave it blank.

But keep in mind, just because the seller listed the book under that particular course, it does not necessarily mean that the book is the right one for the class.

We strongly suggest that you make sure it is the right book by asking your instructor, or by consulting the instructor's syllabus.

Searching by ISBN is probably the best and easiest way to search through our database. Because each book has a unique ISBN, books are easily identifiable, which makes searching faster and more efficient.

The ISBN can usually be found on the back of the book, listed next to the UPC bar-code.

In this case, the ISBN is 0-7645-0624-2 (it's the one circled in red, with a big arrow pointing at it). Notice that the ISBN has the letters "ISBN" next to it. There are a lot of numbers on the back, but we only need the ones labeled as "ISBN."

The ISBN can usually be found within your instructor's syllabus. If it is not listed in the syllabus, ask your instructor for the ISBN ofthe required text.

When you are filling out the "Search by ISBN" form, you would enter "0764506242." DO NOT include the dashes, they are not needed.
